Mariah Carey Confirms First Las Vegas Residency, Gives Away Tickets

It’s official — singer Mariah Carey is going to Las Vegas!

The Grammy Award-winning singer reportedly confirmed her very first Las Vegas residency located at Caesar’s Palace during a recent visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Show, which will air on Thursday.

According to Billboard, Mariah became a little emotional when confirming the news during her interview with Ellen DeGeneres.

“This is a special event for me. And again, I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this cause I’m gonna be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album Number 1’s and this is now the updated version with 18 of them. Hopefully other people will enjoy this. I’ve never done this before.”

Mariah Carey made a pretty big promise to the Ellen show audience members, stating that each of them would receive a ticket to her Las Vegas show, which only led to more applause and even a standing ovation in the crowded studio.

“It’s a new chapter for me and I’m just excited about it.”

A video of Mariah making her big announcement has been posted on the EllenTube website.

The opportunity for Carey to receive her first Las Vegas residency likely had something to do with Celine Dion postponing her own dates at Caesars Palace. Several reports claim that Celine decided to push back her engagements more than initially anticipated in order to look after her ill husband, 72-year-old Rene Angelil.

TMZ reports that Mariah Carey is expected to hold her residency until Celine Dion returns either later this year or early next year.

Mariah did not provide any further details about her Las Vegas residency, such as any of the dates, ticket prices, or even the amount of money that she is making from this lucrative deal.

However, TMZ claims that it would have been “unfathomable” for Mariah Carey to accept less than Britney Spears’ pay of $475,000 per show.

With a lucrative Las Vegas residency on the horizon, 2015 seems to be starting off on a very high note for Mariah Carey.
