Katy Perry Declares She Is ‘Perfect’ For The Super Bowl Show

It will not have escaped anyone’s notice that pop icon Katy Perry is performing on Super Bowl’s halftime show at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on February 01. According to Perry, it isn’t just her popularity and love of football that make her the ideal candidate to fill the prestigious halftime slot. In an interview with Associated Press Perry claims that the messages in her “female anthems” make her ideal for this years showcase.

In a year where the domestic violence incidents dominated the headlines, Katy Perry believes her songs will provide a great contrast to all of the negativity in the NFL this season. Perry said.

“It wasn’t an image problem, it was a problem, We were all watching and asking ourselves questions about what this year would mean. But I think that the problem that the NFL is dealing with is a global problem… we need to work out — or educate people on.”

“I’m all about female empowerment and uplifting people’s spirits, and people finding their own voice with songs like ‘Roar’ and ‘Firework,’ so maybe there is no better person for the show. Hopefully I can bring that incredible strength and empowerment to people through the performance.”

Even though Katy Perry has played to tens of thousands of fans in huge arenas around the world Katy has admitted that she will still have the jitters as she takes to the stage on the big day. The Mail reports that Katy told NBC News that she would be nervous saying.

“Yes, I will be nervous! But I’m going to kind of recycle those nerves and make them adrenaline.”

Perry told NBC’s Today that getting called by the NFL and asked to perform at the Super Bowl left her stunned.

“I was weeping. And I was weeping all day actually, I could kind of well up right now.”

Perry has promised her fans that her 12 minutes show will feature a mash-up of her hits, humor, multiple costume changes, at least two distinct “worlds” and special guests including Lenny Kravitz. Katy wouldn’t comment on reports that she would perform an unreleased song.

Lenny Kravitz took to twitter to confirm that he will be guesting with Perry.

An appearance on the Super Bowl show is a massive deal for musicians. Not only will Katy Perry play for the 65 thousand fans in the stadium, the television audience is huge with over 110 million people in the U.S. watching last years show. In the past artists like Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones have appeared. The slot is now so sought after that there have been reports that the NFL have asked artists to pay to secure the slot.

Katy Perry is adamant that she didn’t agree to that.

Whilst Katy Perry is locked down for the halftime show we still don’t know who will provide the on-filed fireworks, either the Indianapolis Colts or New England Patriots, will play either the Green Bay Packers or Seattle Seahawks. It promises to be quite a show.
