4 Killed in Coronado, Ca. New Year’s Day Shooting

Four people are dead following an early morning shooting in Coronado, Ca. that took place at around 2:30am on New Years Day, according to CBS News.

Police were called after multiple shots were heard coming from a condo located in Coronado, a wealthy seaside suburb of about 24,000 people on San Diego Bay.

Upon their arrival, authorities say they found the body of an adult male lying in the doorway of the condo who had been shot, and bodies of two more men and a woman inside the condo.

Further details, including the identities of the dead, are not being released at this time.

The SWAT team sent in a robo in case there was a shooter inside. The robot searched the first floor and then subsequently searched the second and third floors.

The bodies of the two men and woman were found in different areas of the home.

The LA Times also reported the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), which was assisting in the investigation, said two of the victims appeared to be military personnel.

Asked if the deaths are believed to be a murder-suicide, San Diego County sheriff’s Lt. Larry Nesbit said, “I’ll let it infer what it does. We’re not going to say that. Although it’s very early in the investigation, we don’t believe there are any outstanding suspects.”
