‘Destiny’: And The Most Popular Weapons Are…
The most entertaining feature of Destiny is arguably its gunplay. There’s a large selection of weapons available for the PlayStation and Xbox players. Fans of the game can argue which are the best weapons or their personal favorites, but Bungie has come up the definitive list of what are the most popular over the last couple of weeks.
Bungie wrote the following in its weekly update.
“Weapon use in Destiny is pretty diverse and follows a very fat ‘long tail’ distribution… The guns on these lists are indeed awesome but a lot of players are finding that other, more obscure weapons better fit their tactical needs or their personal play styles. Besides, punching all of the aliens in the face is obviously the correct way to play Destiny anyway.”

The most popular primary weapons for players rank 20 or above is not particularly surprising. The Vault of Glass loot weapons of Vision of Confluence, Atheon’s Epilogue, and Fatebringer take up three of the top five spots. The Stranger’s Rifle, the first level 20 weapon that players receive when completing the campaign, is the third favorite rifle. The only Exotic in the top 5 for primary weapon is Suros Regime.
Sniper rifles dominate the top 10 for special weapons. However, The Dark Below fusion rifle, Murmur, comes in at number one. No doubt that is thanks to its ability to switch between solar and arc abilities plus the solar burn Nightfall that was being run last week.
Rocket launchers dominate the heavy weapon top ten even more than sniper rifles did in the special weapon category. Interestingly, three of the top four heavy weapons are of rare quality — suggesting that players are having a hard time getting legendary or exotic versions. Dragon’s Breath came in at number five thanks to being on sale with Xûr last weekend.
The Bungie community manager slipped in a humorous disclaimer at the bottom of the infographic as well. It reads, “Statistics compiled Dec. 24, 2014 – Jan. 7, 2015 by Bungie User Research with help from your Mom.” Emphasis mine.
Bungie also revealed the most popular weapon across all players from level 1 to level 32.

The developer also showed the most popular primary weapons to use in Crucible. Unsurprisingly, Auto Rifles dominate the list, with Suros Regime sitting at the top thanks to its amazing stability.

As previously reported for the Inquisitr, Bungie is also making changes to the Crota’s End raid to remove exploits and is bringing back Iron Banner this week.
