Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow: On Cute Selfies, ‘Mortdecai’, and Relationship Woes And Wins
Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow may play significant others on screen in the upcoming movie Mortdecai, but have also recently demonstrated that they have an off-screen bond, as well, by way of an adorable Instagram picture that Paltrow posted on Friday of the two.
In the sweet pic, the pair is cuddled up and cozy. Johnny, with his usual untamed locks and sporting dark-rimmed glasses, has an arm around the blond beauty, who appears to be completely natural with not a touch of makeup and her usual magnetic grin.
It appears that the picture was, in fact, snapped during filming as “#Mortdecai” was added to the post on Instagram. Other photos indicate that the pair have been getting on extremely well during filming of the movie Mortdecai, which is to premiere on January 23.
Forty-two year old Paltrow and her co-star, 51-year-old Depp, can both be described as ageless iconic figures of film. Both are known for their incredible performances in an array of outstanding movies from Johnny’s quirky and hilarious antics as Jack Sparrow in The Pirates of the Caribbean to his timeless performance in Edward Scissorhands, as well as What’s Eating Gilbert Grape; Paltrow’s list of unforgettable roles is lengthy as well including her portrayals in Shakespeare In Love, Iron Man, and Emma. It goes without saying that they are the perfect cinematic team.
Paltrow, who recently reflected a bit about her co-stars of the past with Marie Claire, made it clear that she has a deep respect for Depp, among others.
“Whether it’s Morgan Freeman [1995’s Se7en] at the beginning of my career or Johnny Depp in my last movie [this month’s Mortdecai], I feel on-my-knees gratitude for being considered a good enough actor to work with actors of that caliber.”
The mother of two, who has separated from her husband, Chris Martin of the band Coldplay, had words to share about how they’re getting through the tough period.
“We’ve worked really f***ing hard to get to [this] point. But we’re very, very close, and it’s so nice. I feel like it’s, in a way, the relationship we were meant to have.”

Johnny Depp, who has been involved in long-lasting relationships with various women over the years and has certainly experienced his share of romantic woes, is now engaged to his lovely co-star from the film Rum Diaries, Amber Heard.
Depp and Paltrow are in the midst of the media frenzy that is involved when promoting for a movie’s premiere and we can most likely expect to be gifted with more adorable pics of the pair while they continue in their promotions.
Mortdecai involves, as Cinema Blend notes, another quirky performance from Depp.
“Directed by David Koepp, Mortdecai stars Johnny Depp as Charles Mortdecai, an art dealer who winds up getting involved in an adventure involving a stolen painting and a bank account filled with Nazi gold. The star-studded cast also includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Goldblum, Olivia Munn and Paul Bettany.”
Let’s be honest, what’s a Johnny Depp film without the quirks? This one is sure to be a Depp fan crowd-pleaser.
