Celine Dion Is Not Returning To Caesars Las Vegas In March As She Continues To Care For Ailing Husband

Celion Dion will not be returning to Caesars Palace Las Vegas in March as previously planned. The Grammy winner has reached out to the venue to let the appropriate people know that she is not ready to return to the stage as expected, and that she plans on staying home to care for her ailing husband, Rene Angelil at least through the end of the year. According to TMZ, Celine has not completely backed out of her contract, but she has altered her original plan to return.

As many people know, Angelil has been battling throat cancer for quite some time. In August of 2014, Dion announced that she would be taking a hiatus from her Vegas show to stay home to care for her husband of 20 years. And while it seemed as though this was a bad sign, sources say that Angelil is actually doing better.

Celine Dion has had a very successful show in Las Vegas over the past few years. Thousands of people have flown to Vegas just to see her perform, as she is quite the entertainer.

According to Contact Music, The Colosseum has been able to bring in other acts during Dion’s departure. Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, and Shania Twain have all performed there over the past few months. It is unknown if the venue will seek to get a performer in there full time while Dion is gone, or if they will just continue to fill some of the gaps. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, there has been a rumor that Mariah Carey is in talks with Caesars, and that she could have her very own show there this year. Perhaps she will be brought in for the time being. Since there is a chance that Dion won’t return at all, Carey could be her “permanent” replacement.

Celine Dion made the wise decision to choose family over her career, and many people believe that she has done the right thing. Of course giving up her Vegas show matters little if she gets to spend time more time with her husband and their three kids. Angelil is 72-years-old, and even if he beats cancer, he’s not going to be around forever.

Do you think Dion has made the right decision to stay home with Angelil during this time? Do you think she will end up returning to Caesars, or is she just pushing off the inevitable?
