Ron Paul Fans Send Kelly Clarkson Climbing Up the Charts

Kelly Clarkson Supports Ron Paul, Gets Attacked By Online Posters

Coming out in support of Ron Paul- who is considered in some circles to be a bit of a fringe candidate for the GOP in 2012- can be risky for a celebrity, and the strongly polarized vibe in the US ahead of next year’s elections can be difficult to gauge.

But that didn’t stop former American Idol Kelly Clarkson from voicing her support for Ron Paul, and the artist tweeted to fans:

“I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance… If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t.”

Predictably (the move was a bit edgy for her mixed fan base on Twitter) not all of Clarkson’s fans were necessarily supportive of the singer’s Ron Paul endorsement. Several fans expressed disappointment due to Clarkson’s significant gay fanbase, and it seemed the move might harm Clarkson’s album sales.

However, Ron Paul fans are a loyal bunch, and several came out in force to purchase Clarkson’s records after the outcry on Twitter. Clarkson later added:

“I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women’s rights, men’s rights, white/black/purple/orange rights… I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country.”

Ron Paul fans that organized the Clarkson buying push seem to have made a bit of an impact- Clarkson’s record moved up two places, from #13 to #15 on the iTunes charts. Below, a clip about the allegations surrounding Ron Paul and racist newsletters:

  1. MESSAGE FROM BILL O’RARITY TO IOWA GOVERNOR TERRY BRANDSTAD.

If Ron Paul should win Iowa then I recommend that you follow my good example and disqualify him from the election. Obviously such a victory would only be possible due to a conspiracy which would involve all of the Ron Paul supporters agreeing to vote for him on the same day in the same state.

Look Governor, this Ron Paul is a very dangerous person to our welfare/warfare state. He’s trying to promote that endless war is not the solution to all our problems, and such thinking could spread around the country in no time. Now he's even got Kelly Clarkson supporting him. He’s undermining our slogans such as “they are coming after us because they hate democracy and freedom.” And the pinhead comes armed with studies that show “they hate us because we are over there.”.

In this welfare/warfare state it is our job to protect the people against such thinking. Since he has penetrated our first strategy of ignoring him, we need to disqualify or at least play down any victory that he might achieve. We need to attack him now at every opportunity and convince the people that he is fringe, unelectable, and a person of bad character. Thus forget about the issues and do everything you can to help make sure that we keep this cancer from spreading among the people in other states.

    Thanks for your consideration.

    Bill O’Rarity

Paul's disavowed those newsletters for years and years. Judge people by what they do and not what they (allegedly) say: http://youtu.be/8Rv0Z5SNrF4.

  3. "Ron Paul fans are a loyal bunch." I like that description. I bought 3 copies of Kelly's "Stronger" CD. I usually listen to heavy metal and industrial music, so I'll give the CDs to my niece and my cousins' kids.
