Make an Apple fanboy both cringe and drool at the same time

I really admire folks that are willing to go right to the edge with an idea and them jump into the abyss with their expensive piece of hardware while riding on nothing but a wing and a prayer that everything will work in the end. such is the case of Billy Chasen from the [An Error Occurred While Processing This Directive] blog (yes folks that is the name – gotta love it) when he decided to explode his iPod, encase it in a resin block and still have it work.
I might think he’s nuts but I sure respect the guts and the ability it took to pull it off because that is exactly what he did. Even though the iPod looks like it is in pieces and wrapped in resin it does apparent still work.
Wow.

From a technical perspective, yes it should work, unless he broke something while doing this.
Why?
a) Resin is non-conductive, so it's not going to “rewire” the circuits or anything.
b) Most (all?) resins “cold mix”, so the resin never rises above room temperature while making this… therefore you don't melt any parts.
c) Because of (a) and the nature of resin, the parts shouldn't overheat even though they don't have a cooling mechanism.
Tada! Science is useful.

Sorry, but that's what us science/engineering guys do!
