Cameron Diaz: ‘I Waited Because I Didn’t Want To Settle,’ New Wedding Details Emerge [Video]

An unlikely duo? Many would say so. However, Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden’s nine month romance, which led to their 15-minute wedding ceremony, is all the more endearing because of their seeming incompatibilities.

Details about the couple’s wedding ceremony are rapidly emerging, and along with the news about some minor hiccups throughout the course of the event, there have been reports of some made-for-the-movies romantic moments as well. Diaz has starred in her share of bride-to-be-flicks, such as My Best Friend’s Wedding and What Happens In Vegas, and finally as the blushing bride, herself, she can celebrate finding her perfect match.

Daily Mail has relayed some of Cameron’s words, and notes her reason for resisting marriage prior to finding Benji.

“I waited because I didn’t want to settle,” she said. Daily Mail also indicates that the “42-year-old actress delivered a touching toast to her 35-year-old groom, telling their 127 guests she’s happy she held out for Mr. Right.”

So all the blips that may have distracted from some of the romantic ambiance could not dampen the love that the couple clearly has found.

A-listers in attendance at the wedding included Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, bridesmaid Drew Barrymore, Samantha Ronson, Toni Collette, Nancy Juvonen, Judd Apatow, and Leslie Mann. In addition, others witnessing the nuptials were Christina Applegate, Wiz Khalifa, and Constance Leto — the mother of Diaz’s Oscar-winning ex, Jared.

Entertainment at the event was definitely not lacking with performances by Ryan Adams and Lionel Richie. DJ Patrick Belton mixed the rest of the night’s mostly hip-hop playlist and kept guests enjoying the party well into the early morning hours.

Reports from guests and family of the couple indicate just how in love Cameron and Benji are. The two recently gave a statement to People about their wedding.

‘We couldn’t be happier to begin our new journey together surrounded by our closest family and friends.”

The newlyweds’ traditional Jewish ceremony was planned by Yifat Oren & Stefanie Cove, who are the planners who are credited for the weddings of Barrymore, Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway, and Natalie Portman. The planners clearly impressed, as sources in attendance had only favorable reviews for People in regards to the occasion.

“It was a big wedding, but they still managed to make it feel very personal. Only their families and very special friends attended. It all felt very down-to-earth and sweet. Guests arrived smiling and almost seemed giddy. Everyone was excited to be a part of the wedding.”
