WWE News: Seth Rollins Added To WWE Championship Match At The Royal Rumble, Match Now A Triple Threat

On tonight’s RAW, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon returned to power, and as a thank you to Seth Rollins, Triple H and Stephanie added Rollins to the John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar match for the WWE championship at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, making the match a triple threat.

There have been rumblings that Paul Heyman will turn on Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, and join forces with Seth Rollins, and now with Rollins being added to the title match, Heyman turning on Lesnar is very possible.

The belief within WWE is that Brock Lesnar is leaving for the UFC after his WWE contract expires in March, so WWE would like to get the title off of him before WrestleMania 31. There are a lot of fans who are predicting that John Cena will beat Brock Lesnar for the WWE championship at the Royal Rumble, so WWE adding Rollins to the match should add a bit more suspense, and make the outcome harder to predict.

When Brock Lesnar returned to WWE back in 2012 and received one of the loudest ovations in WWE history, WWE began to think that they should have brought Lesnar back as a babyface, or at least have Lesnar be a babyface at some point during his WWE run. Now, with Lesnar likely on the move to the UFC, WWE could want him to do one match as a babyface before he leaves, and if he returns after his UFC career comes to a close, he’ll return as a babyface.

Paul Heyman likely won’t leave WWE with Lesnar, therefore WWE needs to pair him up with someone, and Rollins could be the next “Paul Heyman guy.”

There have been people who have suggested that WWE puts Paul Heyman with Roman Reigns, as there have been comparisons between Reigns and a young Brock Lesnar, as Reigns is not yet comfortable on the microphone, and has a good deal of raw physical talent and potential. But, WWE isn’t interested in making Reigns a heel at the moment, so Rollins is the most likely candidate for Paul Heyman’s services.

The other possibility at the Royal Rumble is that John Cena will pin Brock Lesnar, and Seth Rollins will cash in his Money in the Bank contract on Cena after the match, and walk out of the Royal Rumble as the new WWE champion.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has suggested that WWE may have Seth Rollins walk into WrestleMania 31 as the WWE champion, and have him defend against the winner of the 2015 Royal Rumble Daniel Bryan, with Bryan defeating Rollins, and winning the title.

One thing is for sure, and that is that WWE is trying to be as unpredictable as possible leading over these next couple of months because they know most WWE fans know what their original plans for WrestleMania 31 were.
