Tara Reid, of American Pie fame, recently posted a series of photos on her Instagram account showing off her bikini bod. The photos were taken during a vacation in Mexico and were taken by Reid’s new boyfriend.
However, a particular photo showing Reid posing while sitting on a rock drew flak from commenters accusing the star of photoshopping the picture. Upon close inspection, it seems her waistline is edited and the uneven shape seems to be from a poor Photoshop edit. Commenters weighed in on the pic, saying things like, “OMG you used Photoshop in this photo. That’s not good” and “She got busted photoshopping this one LOL”.
Photoshop accusations aside, Reid also drew flak because of her skinny frame, with fans expressing concern over the actress’ thin figure. This past November, Reid defended her weight during an interview with TMZ.
“I’m just a small-boned girl. I eat, I eat, and I eat. Some people eat too much, [and] you yell at them that they’re fat. You want to get mad at me because I’m skinny? Great, get mad at me. I am what I am.”
Reid’s weight has been something that the media and her fans have been talking about for years now. She’s been fending off rumors left and right, even as far back as 2008. In a 2008 interview with OK Magazine, she talked about the matter.
“I’m not too thin. I go up 10 pounds, I go down 10 pounds. I was thin for a movie that I just finished…Now they’re going to see me and say I’m too fat because I’ve gained 10 pounds… I can’t win!”
Her struggles with body image even led to a string of unsuccessful plastic surgeries that the star is more than happy to talk about candidly.
“I can’t say I’m never going to have more surgery as I don’t know how I’ll feel in a few years’ time. Right now I’m happy with my body, though,” Reid said in an interview. “But the mental and physical pain I went through after surgery was horrific. I went through two years of living in denial and everyone saying how bad my body was.”
She admits that some procedures she had done, including a boob job and a liposuction procedure, didn’t have the results that she wanted. She told US Weekly,“even though I was skinny, I wanted—I’m not going to lie—a six-pack. I had body contouring, but it all went wrong. My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing.”
Reid added, “I’ll never be perfect again, but I’ve got my self-confidence back.”
