Backlash Over Photo: Mom Puts Baby In Her Purse, Viral Photo Brings Criticism

Let’s just call this the week of backlash over one photo or another. The latest backlash over a viral photo involves 26-year-old Xue Hsueh, a Chinese mother who thought it would be cute to pop her adorable 9-month-old baby with a big head in her big red designer tote bag and flash the peace sign with two fingers as her friend took a photo, reports Metro.

Apparently, Xue didn’t expect a barrage of online backlash against the photo; she liked the photo so much, she posted it online – thinking it a cute snap to share with her followers. Instead, the photo of Xue’s baby in her bag brought comparisons of the way folks carry their dogs around in their bags in the same manner. The backlash over the baby in a bag photo criticized the way the photo made babies seem like an accessory – with others in the backlash melee questioning the safety of the baby in the photo.

“Designer babies, the latest accessory that every woman must have.”

“I wonder what she will do when the straps break on her handbag?”

Meanwhile, Xue has lashed out with a backlash of her own against the backlash, responding that her baby son was only placed in her bag briefly – and that she was actually joking about the types of things men would do if they took care of babies.

According to the Mirror, Xue claimed her son had fun during the taking of the photo that has caused backlash. Indeed, this reporter agrees that social media has made it a bit too easy for others to be outraged and create major backlash over certain photos that don’t necessitate backlash. As long as the subjects of the photo are safe, there’s no need to get up in arms over a photo that’s innocuous and only intended to bring a chuckle.

Sarah Palin, however, might deserve the backlash against the photo she posted on her Facebook page — as reported by the Inquisitr — which shows her son Trig stepping on the family dog in order to reach the sink. Sure, if the child was light enough in weight not to cause damage to the dog, and if the dog considered it more of a lovely massage without pain, that would be a cute photo that needs no backlash. However, it’s best to stay as safe as possible with our pets – and more backlash has erupted over the fact that the Puppy Jake Foundation dog could’ve been with a military family instead.
