‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ Developer Still Not Ready To Discuss The Possibility Of Story-Based DLC

Prior to the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, BioWare confirmed that they wouldn’t add any additional companion characters to the game via future DLC releases. When asked any other questions regarding future story-based add-ons for the game, however, the developer simply stated that they wouldn’t discuss DLC before the game became available. Yet now that the newest installment of the RPG series has been out for over a month, BioWare still isn’t willing to talk about potential single-player DLC, according to Dragon Age: Inquisition Creative Director Mike Laidlaw. In fact, the developer isn’t even willing to say if there are currently plans to ever create new campaign content.

“We haven’t announced anything besides ongoing support for multiplayer.”

After being launched this past November, BioWare has since released free DLC for Dragon Age: Inquisition that brought new features to the game’s online multiplayer mode. However, the only add-on content available for the title’s single-player campaign is a small DLC pack that allows users to purchase in-game equipment that was offered as part of the deluxe edition of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

While those who strictly play the story campaign of Dragon Age: Inquisition have no idea whether they will receive new content in the future, BioWare reassures fans that the plan is to continue adding content to the title’s cooperative multiplayer mode in the future. Using the official Twitter account for the Dragon Age franchise, the developer recently informed fans to follow BioWare on social sites for information on upcoming multiplayer maps that will be heading to Dragon Age: Inquisition soon.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is the first title in the franchise to feature multiplayer gameplay. As such, it is good to see that the developer plans to fully back the new co-op mode with DLC content. However, some fans may be worried that the series may be getting away from its story-driven roots since the developer is currently remaining silent about at the possibility of a new single-player DLC.

BioWare has hosted several online events for Dragon Age: Inquisition since the game launched late last fall. The most recent of these multiplayer operations was scheduled to take place this past weekend. The Inquisitr reported that the developer now plans to re-host the event at the start of 2015 to allow everyone a chance to participate, since many users were unable to connect online due to the connection issues that plagued Xbox Live and the Playstation Network over the holidays.

Dragon Age: Inquisition players will definitely receive more co-op content in the future, but it is unclear at this time when or if BioWare plans to release single-player DLC.
