Katy Perry Wants Duet With Pharrell Williams In Super Bowl Halftime Show

Katy Perry snagged the coveted headliner role for the upcoming Super Bowl last fall, shortly before she kicked off her Prismatic World Tour. Perry is currently touring the globe “spreading light” to 90 different cities, and is reportedly in talks with Pharrell Williams about a possible duet at the wildly popular event.

Last year’s game, Super Bowl XLVIII, was the most watched Super Bowl ever with over 112 million viewers. An additional 3 million viewers tuned in just for the half time show, setting another record, and besting the likes of Beyonce and Madonna. Katy Perry is currently tied with Rihanna for the most number one hits in the twenty-one year history of Billboard’s top-40 chart, Perry and Rihanna both hold eleven number one’s as of the spring of this year.

Katy Perry is wildly renowned for her flashy style, her vibrantly colored hair and wigs, over the top makeup, her amazing dance moves, and her super catchy songs. The thirty year old Perry, surprisingly, is the daughter of two pastors who grew up singing gospel music and has “Jesus” tattooed on her wrist. Unsurprisingly, she has been very influenced by Queen and their famous front man.

“I’m very inspired by Freddie Mercury and how flamboyant and theatrical he was.”

Despite being in the midst of her world tour, Perry is reportedly gearing up for her February 1 performance in Glendale, Arizona. Katy is already rehearsing and working with her choreographers and dancers to ensure her biggest gig ever is a smashing success. True to form, it’s being reported that she’s planning an eye-catching stage, complete with Katy Perry’s signature outlandish costumes.

Viewership of this Super Bowl is expected to be around 115 million domestically, providing a huge publicity platform for Perry and anyone else that decides to accept her invitation. Katy’s camp is reportedly in talks with Pharrel Williams’ people about the possibility of a duet on the big stage. Williams is perhaps best known for his huge international hit “Happy,” but he has paired with many other big names such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Miley Cyrus, and Robin Thicke. As a source told the Daily Mirror, Katy Perry is a “huge” fan of the “Happy” singer and thinks that he would be a great addition to her show. As for Pharrell, he has his own tour coming up this summer, and this would be an amazing publicity platform for him. Will you be tuning in to watch Katy Perry’s halftime show?
