Daniel Craig To Play ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Stormtrooper? Cameo Rumors Just Won’t Go Away

Rumors that Daniel Craig will appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens just won’t go away. In fact, it even sounds as if the 007 actor is willing to appear in JJ Abrams’ blockbuster in a teeny tiny cameo.

The latest speculation has come courtesy of Mike The Film Guy, who has reported that Daniel Craig will appear as a soldier in the Empire’s army in the seventh installment to the beloved franchise.

In fact, there have been rumors that Daniel Craig’s face won’t even appear in the film, as it will constantly be covered by a Stormtrooper helmet. He might not even have any lines either.

In the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we allegedly got our first look at one of the upcoming film’s stormtroopers. Actor John Boyega was seen wearing a stormtrooper outfit without a helmet as he darted through a desert.

However, it has still not been confirmed that Boyega will actually be portraying a stormtrooper in the film. At the moment, all we know is that John Boyega will wear a stormtrooper outfit in Star Wars: The Force Awakens at some point. We don’t know the context.

This isn’t the first time allegations that Daniel Craig will appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens have emerged. Back in September, it was reported that the James Bond actor had begged to make a secret appearance in the film.

According to the Mirror, an insider told the Sun, “Daniel asked for some sort of secret cameo role – and was happy to have his name left off the posters. Fans will love trying to work out which covered up character is him.”

Daniel Craig isn’t the only mainstream Hollywood actor to have pleaded with a director of one of the upcoming Star Wars films for a part. The Avengers actor Mark Ruffalo is believed to have asked for a part in the eighth installment to the Star Wars franchise. In fact, he even sent an email to Rian Johnson, who previously directed Ruffalo in The Brothers Bloom, and is overseeing the impending sci-fi space opera.

“My email to Rian after all these years was, ‘Rian congratulations on everything you’ve been doing. And by the way, if there’s a part in Star Wars, please, anything, please consider considering me to join you.”

We’ll just have to wait and see if Daniel Craig and Mark Ruffalo’s pleading actually paid off. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to be released on December 18, 2015.
