The First ‘GTA V’ Online Event Of 2015 Features Different Content On Last-gen Consoles

Rockstar Games is kicking off the New Year by giving Grand Theft Auto V fans in-game rewards for playing the title’s online multiplayer mode at any time between now through Monday, January 5. The developer announced on Friday that they are now hosting the first weekend event of 2015 within GTA V that will make it easier for users to increase their online reputation and earn money quicker than usual.

Through the remainder of the weekend, GTA V fans will discover special mission playlists that have been created by Rockstar Games. Completing jobs within these GTA Online event playlists will grant gamers twice the normal amounts of in-game currency payouts as well as double RP rewards.

Each of the new Grand Theft Auto V playlists from the event consists of a series of new online jobs created by Rockstar Games. To offer variety, the GTA Online event playlists include one race, death match, capture, and Last Team Standing mission types. However, despite the fact that GTA V‘s online mode does have co-op jobs, every one of the missions from this weekend’s event are competitive in nature.

Furthermore, Rockstar Games created different missions for the GTA V online event that differs between the console generations. Users playing on the Xbox One and Playstation 4 received a different set of playlists from fans that are still accessing GTA V from last-gen platforms.

The start of the new GTA V weekend event coincided with the removal of snow from GTA Online. As the Inquisitr reported earlier this week, Rockstar Games gave fans another chance to play in a snow-filled Los Santos and pick up exclusive Christmas inventory items since Xbox Live and the Playstation Network both experienced outages over the holidays that prevented many GTA V fans from playing on Christmas Day.

However, it seems like a few GTA Online users still want more snowfall. After the developer listened to a previous player-made petition, a few fans have now started a new request on the Rockstar Support website to extend the snow of GTA V to a full week. This is unlikely to happen since the snowy event was already extended once.

Grand Theft Auto V is now available on Xbox One and PS4 as well as their last-gen counterparts. The game is set to launch early this year on PC, and Rockstar Games has already confirmed that online heists will also be released on all platforms towards the beginning of 2015.
