Rubik’s Cube Solution: Watch Time-Lapse Of 17 By 17 Puzzle Being Solved

A new Rubik’s Cube solution has hit the internet for the most difficult puzzle in the history of the infamous cube.

Back before video games could be made complex enough to truly challenge the brain and the internet was filled with tutorials on everything you can think of, there was a toy puzzle that was extremely popular. It was something to brag about if you managed to solve it on your own, because people rarely had the patience and intelligence to get it right.

Some owners of the infamous toy discovered Rubik’s Cube patterns which systematically solved it every time. Oscar van Deventer eventually had to make it more challenging by giving it more squares per side, and created the most complicated version ever. Oscar’s 17 by 17 Rubik’s Cube currently holds the World Record for difficulty.

YouTube channel owner Kenneth Brandon (RedKB) posted a video showing him solving that same puzzle.

How challenging was it? Kenneth tells us that his record for finding the Rubik’s Cube solution to the 17 by 17 puzzle took hours. Judging by the length of the second video, it was seven and a half in total.

Initially, Kenneth confesses, it took him most of five days to solve each side.

The first video above is a time-lapse of the feat, while the second one below shows every second, at normal speed, in case you want to see the details in real time.

Kenneth tells us it wasn’t too difficult.

“The way you solve a 17 by 17 is just like you would a seven by seven, or a five by five. If you can solve one of those then the 17 by 17 isn’t that hard, but it is very, very tedious.”

Kenneth’s Rubik’s Cube patterns are called the reduction method. This means to solve the centers first, making it more like a classic three by three Rubik’s Cube.

Do you think you have the patience solve this puzzle using Kenneth Brandon’s Rubik’s Cube solution?
