robert-de-niro-helen-grace-hightower-babyBreak out the cigars – Robert De Niro is a father again at the ripe age of 68.

US Weekly reports that De Niro and his wife of 14 years, Grace Hightower De Niro, 56, have welcomed their second child together, a baby girl born via surrogate.

According to the report, the baby, whom they’ve named Helen Grace Hightower, weighed in at 7 pounds, 2 ounces. She joins older brother, 13-year-old Elliot.

De Niro, an Oscar winner known for movies such as “The Godfather: Part II” and the recently-released, celebrity-packed romantic comedy “New Year’s Eve,” married Hightower in 1997. After hitting a rough patch in the late 90s that nearly ended in divorce, the pair managed to reconcile and renew their vows in front of friends and family at a romantic ceremony back in 2004.

In addition to his two children with Grace Hightower, De Niro has four other children – daughter Drena, 40, and son Raphael, 35, with former wife Diahnne Abbott, as well as 16-year-old twin sons Julian and Aaron, born via surrogate with ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith.

Speaking about his approach to parenthood in 2009, DeNiro said:

“One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in my years as a father is to keep the lines of communication open with my kids.

“I care deeply about all of them, and I have made a conscious effort to talk to and to listen to them… not to lecture them, but to tell them things I think are important for them to know.”

From the folks over here at Inquistr, congratulations Grace Hightower and Robert De Niro.

  3. Who in their right minds would WANT kids at this age.

  4. probably people who love kids and can afford a full time nanny

  5. Good luck to them. I guess they will have plenty of help. I wouldn't want to do that at their ages.

  6. Why not? Many times grandparents raise children that turn out perfectly fine…
