Rogue To Get Her Own ‘Distinct’ ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’

[Possible minor spoilers ahead.]

Rogue, mutant heroine of X-Men fame, is said to be getting her own “distinct film” version of X-Men: Days of Future Past in the summer of 2015.

James Finn, the Executive Vice President of Marketing Communications for 20th Century Fox, answered a fan’s question on Twitter about scenes featuring Rogue that were cut from the theatrical release of the film.

“Omg Still no news on the #RogueCut! @FinnJ,” user @DOFPXmen wrote on December 14. Finn responded, “@DOFPXmen Summer 2015.” The Twitter fan followed up by asking if it would also have the regular cut, and Finn replied, “@DOFPXmen no. Distinct film. Distinct extras. Complimentary to DOFP Blu-ray but not repetitive.”

Movie News Guide provided details on what fans might see in the new cut.

“The more than 10-minute ‘Rogue Cut’ will reinstate Rogue’s rescue sequence, in which Magneto and Iceman must break Rogue out off a mutant concentration camp so she can absorb and use the wounded Kitty Prdye’s powers to serve as Wolverine’s time travel anchor.”

What else will be in that particular version of the film remains to be seen. Cinema Blend speculated on what exactly Finn’s comments mean for those considering purchasing the re-edited movie.

“Beyond the fact that the Rogue Cut will be an entirely different product than the theatrical blu-ray, Finn was pretty coy about revealing other goodies we can expect to see.”

Cinema Blend added, “Rogue fans were pretty bummed” that she didn’t get too much time on screen in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The article said that producers “knew immediately that Rogue fans would be incredibly upset” that more time in the movie wasn’t devoted to her, and they “started talking about releasing a Rogue Cut” soon after they revealed the character played by actress Anna Paquin wouldn’t have much of a role in the film.

Sean Wist, writing at JoBlo, seemed to offer confirmation that fans have been waiting for more Rogue in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

“Now, I’m not too sure about the Rogue Cut being its own distinct film and whatnot, but what I do appreciate is the fact that none of the content on the current Blu-ray release will be recycled. Personally, I was holding out for the Rogue Cut before I made a purchase, but now I can scoop of FUTURE PAST at will without having to worry about double dipping once that latest cut comes out next year.”

The Inquisitr previously reported that X-Men: Apocalypse, the next movie in the franchise, is scheduled to be released in 2016. No official word yet if the character of Rogue will appear in that movie.
