S.T.A.L.K.E.R. dev suggests there may be hope for the company after all

Early this month, we got the bad news that Ukraine-based GSC Game World, developers of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, had apparently been shut down.

After comments from various sources backing up the claim and a few others that denied it, the company still wouldn’t say for certain whether or not the rumors were true, despite several of its developers confirming the news. We never got to find out exactly why the studio had shut down, either, but it turns out that there may be hope for the company.

In a tweet on the company’s official Twitter account, GSC Game World suggested that there may actually be hope that the developer won’t have to stay shut down, but we’ll have to wait until January to find out more. The tweet reads: “Dear Stalkers: We will not be releasing any official news until around mid January. However there is cause for hope! Good hunting!”

It’s not a definitive yes or no, but it should give a little hope to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans who were looking forward to see what the developer could pull off with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
