Newlywed 95: Newlywed Dies Weeks After 96-Year-Old Wife Is Taken Away From Him

A newlywed, age 95, died weeks after his wife was taken away from him. According to CBS News, Eddie Harrison was distressed after his 96-year-old wife Edith was taken away from him a few weeks ago. The two had been together for 10 years before recently deciding to get married, but their union was contested in court because Hill has dementia.

Hill’s kids didn’t want their mom to get married because they worried that Harrison would interfere with the distribution of her estate after she passed away. They brought their concerns before a judge. The judge didn’t force Hill and Harrison to get divorced, but she did appoint a new guardian for Hill, and the woman was moved to Florida shortly thereafter, separating her from her husband. Weeks later, her husband passed away.

“Eddie Harrison died Tuesday in a hospital after suffering from influenza, said [Hill’s daughter] Rebecca Wright, who was caring for the couple in their Alexandria, Virginia, home. Harrison became distressed after his wife and longtime companion, 96-year-old Edith Hill, was taken away.”

The 95-year-old newlywed checked himself into a hospital after falling ill. While he was told that his wife was going to Florida for a two week vacation, it became evident that there was no intention of bringing her back to be with her new husband.

According to AOL News, Hill’s daughters Rebecca Wright and Patricia Barber have been fighting to regain guardianship of their mom. The two women are said to be at odds over their mother’s care. Evidently, the women did know just how in love their mother and Harrison were.

“‘He lived for her, and she lived for him. It’s the love story of the century,’ Wright said, recalling how they would dance, take walks and care for each other.”

The story of the newlywed, 95, who passed away after being separated from his wife isn’t the first of its kind. While many would argue that the man was old and likely died of old age, it seems clear that he fell ill due to distress over being separated from his wife. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, a couple who had been married for over 50 years died 10 minutes apart back in November.

While Hill and Harrison’s circumstances aren’t the same, the loss of a partner can be very detrimental to a person’s overall health, which is evidenced in both stories.
