Football fans can watch the Ole Miss vs. TCU game live online and see whether the Horned Frogs can enact a bit of revenge in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.
The No. 6 ranked TCU had hopes of making the first-ever College Football Playoff, but they weren’t selected despite a No. 3 CFP ranking and a 55-3 thrashing of Iowa in their season finale. Now they will look to make a statement in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve, taking on the No. 9 ranked Mississippi.
The teams kick off at 12:30 p.m. ET from the Georgia Dome.
Despite the snubbing, TCU is taking it in stride.
“We’ve been talking about TCU since Oct. 28, it’s been fantastic,” athletic director Chris Del Conte said. “We wanted college football to be at the forefront of America and it has been. It’s not time to panic. I thought the committee did a phenomenal job. Would we have liked to be in the four? Absolutely.”
The game will be TCU’s first trip to the Peach Bowl.
“We feel like this is a playoff game,” said coach Gary Patterson. “Ole Miss was as high as third in the nation, they play at a very high level.”
Ole Miss once had title hopes as well, but consecutive losses to LSU, Auburn, and Arkansas dropped them out of the running.
Despite the difficult stretch, Mississippi head coach Hugh Freeze said he believes his team was competitive in the SEC.
“It’s a difficult task in this league, but I think we’ve proven that we can be competitive and relevant,” Freeze said.
TCU can expect a heavy dose of halfback Jaylen Walton in the game, who ran a season high 14 times against Mississippi State for 148 yards, including a 91-yard touchdown.
“We made a decision going into the last game that he’s our best option and let’s get the ball to (Walton),” Freeze said. “We wanted to get him a certain number of touches, and thought he ran extremely physical and made explosive plays.”
