‘NCIS’ Season 12 Spoilers: Gibbs’ Ex-Wife, ‘Surprises’ And ‘Twists,’ And McGee And Delilah’s Relationship

Ready to be surprised by NCIS Season 12? CBS’ long-running hit procedural drama may be at 269 episodes and counting, but it is showing no signs of slowing down, and it sounds like it’s going to hit the ground running in 2015.

First up, in the first NCIS Season 12 episode of the new year, “Check,” fans will get to meet Gibbs’ second ex-wife, played by Jeri Ryan (Leverage, Star Trek: Voyager), which Sean Murray teased when speaking to Zap2it.

“We get to meet one of Gibbs’ mystery ex-wives soon. That’s not necessarily what I’m talking about as far as the surprises and the twists, but there’s some pretty surprising stuff that comes up and I’ll definitely be looking to see the reaction to that one.”

If you’d like to see how Gibbs handles seeing his second ex-wife again — and she’s not alone! — check out the sneak peek CBS has released from that episode below to see what happens when they ambush him at a crime scene.

As far as the “surprises” he mentions, he hinted that there’s something to look forward to in a January NCIS episode.

“There’s some stuff coming up in January that’s going to be pretty surprising. I wish I could [say more]. … You’ll know it when you see it!”

Also coming up in the rest of NCIS Season 12 is a possible return of Margo Harshman as Delilah, McGee’s long-distance girlfriend. Delilah took a job in Dubai, and Murray shared that she could return.

“We may see Delilah again this season, McGee’s love interest. Last we left they had a long distance relationship and she was in Dubai. We haven’t seen her this year but I think we’re going to see her, which is — for me and for the character — a good thing. I think people like to see McGee and Delilah together too and it’s fun to do. I have a great time with Margo Harshman, who plays Delilah.”

Elsewhere, Assignment X shared an interview with showrunner and executive producer Gary Glasberg in which he pointed to “how [they] stepped up and handled Ziva’s departure, something [they] weren’t expecting,” as one of the parts of Season 11 he is proud of, as well as introducing Emily Wickersham as Bishop and the NCIS: New Orleans team and paying tribute to Ralph Waite. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, there is always a chance that Ziva could return since they didn’t kill her off.

As for the tribute to Waite, that meant that last season didn’t end on a cliffhanger, which Glasberg said they decided to do in order to “treat [Waite’s passing] properly and do it justice.” He added that losing his father will possible have lingering effects on Gibbs.

“I think so. He lost his father. And it will resonate absolutely into Season 12. We ended the episode with him looking at the model boat that he had built for his mom and named after his mom and now he’s going to start building it in his basement. So I think that’ll be a part of how he deals with the process.”

NCIS Season 12 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
