Here Are The Best Free Online Courses To Jumpstart Your 2015

New years resolutions are dominating discussions on the dinner table. For the majority, health and fitness goes to the top of the priority list. For others, diversifying their knowledge on different subject matter is the main theme of their 2015.

For people who prefer to go for the latter, online courses can be one of the best ways to improve one’s knowledge in different fields. Redditors compiled some of the best online courses on a recent AskReddit thread. Here are some of the courses they suggested.

Redditor hec187 recommends this Excel course, “Learn all you can about Excel. Chances are, most of your co-workers are only good at the very basic Excel. Impress your boss as well with your knowledge of spreadsheets. You may just become your boss’s right hand man/woman.”

Redditor ImGonnaHaveToCallBS recommends the language learning app Duolingo, “I found the app duolingo to be a great, free alternative to Rosetta Stone. Can’t honestly say that I can speak fluently because a couple months in I started a full time student load on top of FT work but I feel confident I would have gotten there if I stuck with it.”

Redditor iateyourdinner recommends this Coursera course – Think Again: How To Reason And Argue. The course description says the lessons intend to teach students how to reason well and identify good reasoning and bad reasoning.

“Reasoning is important. This course will teach you how to do it well. You will learn some simple but vital rules to follow in thinking about any topic at all and some common and tempting mistakes to avoid in reasoning. We will discuss how to identify, analyze, and evaluate arguments by other people (including politicians, used car salesmen, and teachers) and how to construct arguments of your own in order to help you decide what to believe or what to do. These skills will be useful in dealing with whatever matters most to you.”
