‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ One Shot Sniper Mode Double XP Event Might Be Extended

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has a brand new mode that is being billed as “sniper only” called One Shot. The new mode went live on Friday, December 26, and Call of Duty fans were promised a double XP weekend to go along with the new mode’s launch. The problem with the Double XP weekend, of course, is that Xbox Live and the PSN have been having connectivity issues since Christmas day.

The good news for Advanced Warfare players is Activision is kicking around the idea of actually extending the Double XP event because of the outages. It also appears the new Call of Duty mode is here to stay; at least, it will be when the online networks are back to being fully operational. When more people are able to get access to this new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare mode, they will be playing a concept that Sledgehammer worked on hand in hand with a professional player.

The new playable mode in Advanced Warfare got quite a bit of feedback from a player named NaDeSHoT, according to GameSpot. One Shot is a very specific play mode that is geared towards making Advanced Warfare players have to use their sniper skills in order to win. Players start off this new Advanced Warfare mode with very limited class choices and reduced health.

All the classes in this new Advanced Warfare mode allow players to use a MORS, a bolt-action railgun sniper, along with a variety of perks, Scorestreaks, and Exo abilities. All of the offerings are listed on the official website, along with the warning that the different sniper rifles are the only guns players will have access to while playing One Shot mode. Secondary weapons are not allowed in the Sniper only mode as an extra incentive to get players to try and take their opponents out with long distance shots.

Sledgehammer and Activision have been pouring a ton of resources into this new iteration of the long running series. Considering that the previously released Call of Duty: Ghosts wasn’t exactly beloved, both companies are working hard to make Advanced Warfare more successful.

DLC Season Pass holders have gotten early access to weapons, and a video of the upcoming zombie mode was just recently released. The zombies will be shambling into the game in the early part of 2015. Until the undead DLC goes live, Activision hopes that One Shot will provide enough fun to keep Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare fans entertained.
