Taylor Swift Is Number One On Billboard ‘Artist 100’: She Breaks Record

Taylor Swift is the reigning queen of the music world. Ms. Swift not only has the fastest selling album of the year with 1989, but she now holds Billboard‘s Artist top 100 spot for the tenth week in a row. The magazine claims Taylor Swift has broken a major record.

“Taylor Swift stays atop the Billboard Artist 100 chart this week, logging a record-extending 10th week at No. 1, while Nick Minaj soars 12-2, fueled by sales for her new album.”

Billboard claims that Swift holds a nearly two to one lead in points over Minaj, despite the former dipping by six percent and Swift leaping by 192 percent. Taylor Swift’s rank is heavily pushed by her 1989 album, which returns to the number one position this week on the album charts. Swift sold an extra 375,000 units in the past week.

If anybody needs further proof of Taylor Swift’s popularity, all they have to do is look at the Billboard Hot 100 single’s chart, where her single “Blank Space” is sitting at the top of the charts. Music Times was one of the first sources to review the single and predict its major success.

“Like the lead single ‘Shake It Off,’ ‘Blank Space’ was co-written by pop writers extraordinaire Max Martin and Shellback. The mid-tempo jam features an earhook-y work and catchy melody for days, with theatric rises and falls in Swift’s speak-singing voice…Swift plays fun about her past dating game, warning her future lover that she can ‘be that girl for a month’ but he shouldn’t be scared of her.”

To celebrate her dominance in the music industry, Taylor Swift will embark on the 1989 World Tour in 2015. Swift is, perhaps, the only female musician besides Madonna who can book stadiums. Swift will be playing venues such as the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan; Ford Field in Detroit, MI; Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, PA; and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Taylor Swift has sold out most of her dates.

So, what’s next for Taylor Swift after six years of mega-success? Unfortunately, it could be time for a Taylor Swift backlash. It has happened to every major superstar since 1980. Michael Jackson experienced it, though most of the backlash wasn’t music related. The Madonna backlash of the early 1990s was what many consider the worst backlash of any pop star in history. Madonna overcame it and Taylor Swift will undoubtedly overcome the inevitable backlash as well.

Taylor Swift may get under some people’s nerves, but she is beautiful, talented, and smart. Taylor Swift is poised to be here for the long run, and we will never be able to “shake” her off.
