Maroon 5’s Adam Levine Calls This Duet His Favorite ‘Voice’ Performance Of Season 7

Maroon 5’s Adam Levine came oh-so-close to having one of his pupils win it all on The Voice Season 7. But even though country crooner Craig Wayne Boyd took home the prize, it was this duet with runner up Matthew McAndrew that Levine calls one of his “favorite performances all season.”

According to Rolling Stone, the song in question is the stripped-down version of the song “Lost Stars” that the Maroon 5 front man tackled with McAndrew.

“I was looking to create a really strong moment doing a duet and thought the song really showcased Matt’s falsetto. It was one of my favorite performances all season.”

Levine initially recorded the song for the 2014 comedy Begin Again, which starred the Maroon 5 singer alongside Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo. The song “Lost Stars” played a key role in the film’s plot, and both Levine and Knightley contributed vocals for the film’s soundtrack.

“I loved working with John Carney on ‘Begin Again,’ and the music that Gregg and Danielle created is amazing,” Levine told Rolling Stone. “When the opportunity came up to do ‘Lost Stars’ on ‘The Voice’ with Matt and we just went for it.”

Meanwhile, this season’s winners and finalists on The Voice may finally end up squashing what Adam Levine labeled as the show’s biggest problem. As reported by the Inquisitr, the Maroon 5 singer was critical of the show this past summer because it failed to produce any singer on the level of American Idol.

“It’s got a ways to go if it wants to have as profound an impact as ‘Idol,'” Adam said. “Millions of people watch the show every week and fall in love with a singer, then you don’t hear much from them.”

According to Billboard, however, that trend could be about to change, as Voice winner Craig Wayne Boyd’s new song, “My Baby’s Got a Smile on Her Face,” debuted at No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart recently. Boyd becomes just the second artist to launch at No. 1 since Hot Country Songs began as a multi-metric chart in October 1958. Garth Brooks is the only other act to bow atop the chart, having made history when “More Than a Memory” blew in at the summit on September 15, 2007.

And as reported by the Inquisitr, Boyd isn’t alone, with Team Adam alums McAndrew and Damien also scoring Hot 100 debuts as well.
