Voxant cuts ad rates by 42%

Voxant/ The News Room, one of the more popular legal news video sites has cut ad rates for bloggers by 42% as the ad market continues to head south.
Ad rates prior to the cut were $6 CPM for ads shown on non-auto play videos, a nice earner for bloggers who share video from the site. The new rate is $3.50. Payment for secondary plays, where someone grabbed a video from your site and put it on theirs, has been cut completely.
Here’s the email sent to users
As per the new rate card information posted on the Get Paid page payments for non-autoplay ad-impressions are now $3.50.

Further, payments can no longer be earned for content distributed via secondary embedding of the content player by visitors to your website. Each of these changes was necessary to bring costs associated with payments to content distributors in line with advertising revenues derived from distribution of that content. All of these changes are effective February 1, 2009. We greatly appreciate you for your continued patronage of www.thenewsroom.com.

It’s still a decent program, even if they do lack content vs RedLasso at its peak.

Already the online revenue in private sales is going down due to less interest in direct advertising, moreover if Voxant like services bring it down – I am seeing a hard time in 1st quarter of 2009 for bloggers.
Bloggers need to keep in mind to optimize their earning revenues now to be prepared for it.
