WWE: Hulk Hogan Wants ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin For WrestleMania 31, ‘Coward’ Austin Responds
Although a legend in the WWE, Hulk Hogan has been struggling to convince Vince McMahon and Triple that he can have a final match in the ring. So instead of getting permission, the Hulkster has been trying to rile “Stone Cold” Steve Austin by calling him a “coward” for not wanting to face off at WrestleMania 31. Now Austin has responded on his podcast.
In a related report by the Inquisitr, everyone knows that Hulk Hogan is getting a bit old to be climbing into the ring for a match, and even Hogan himself admits his TNA wrestling matches were “embarrassing.”
“The thing is, I watch the old tapes of myself, WCW, and it’s embarrassing because towards the end I was getting to where it was embarrassing to kind of like be in there and then I watch the TNA (Wrestling) stuff and that was a nightmare. I tried to get in there. I was in the middle of the back surgeries trying to keep up. The doctors would say ‘you’ll be fine’ but to watch it now is embarrassing.”
Hulk Hogan has continued his wrestling training and now claims to be free of back pain. This is a significant step toward an actual match since Hulk once had back surgery because he injured himself while beach-combing for seashells. So you would think the Hulkamaniac would gracefully retire, but instead he continues to challenge “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in addition to asking for the WWE Heavyweight Championship belt.
It’s pretty certain Vince McMahon won’t let Hulk Hogan anywhere near Brock Lesnar, but even some of Hulk’s other suggestions like John Cena seems a daunting task for the aging wrestler. Of course, there’s also the idea of having a two-on-one match in order to toss Lesnar out straight into the arms of the UFC. Even if Mr. Money In The Bank Seth Rollins cashed in when a hypothetical Brock Lesnar vs. Hulk Hogan match happened, it would seem kind of odd for the older man to pull a victory out of his hat like a magic trick with the WWE bunny.
Unfortunately, Hulk might as well be trying to yank Steve Austin out of that magical hat since it seems neither match will happen based upon Austin’s response during his podcast.
“Man, I’ve been hearing about Hogan calling me a coward, and I haven’t gone on any radio interviews or television interviews and addressed any of that,” Austin said. “I am not a coward. I’m busy doing my thing. I know he’s just trying to stir some s**t up, and I’m cool with it. I don’t think we’re going to face each other at WrestleMania.”
Despite being the two biggest names in WWE history, “Stone Cold” Steven Austin “highly doubts” a match with Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 31 will ever be allowed. Austin finished by saying that if Hogan keeps calling him a coward then “he’s got something for his ass.”
