‘Fat Girl Dancing:’ Whitney Thore Lands Her Own Reality Show On TLC [Video]

The Fat Girl Dancing video has gone viral, and the woman who stars in it has inked her own reality show. According to WGPH, Whitney Thore posted a video of herself and a friend dancing a choreographed routine to Jason Derulo’s “Talk Dirty To Me” almost one year ago. Little did she know that her “No Body Shame” campaign would go viral, and that TLC would offer her a reality show.

The Greensboro, North Carolina native’s video has been viewed well over five million times. According to Fox 31Denver, 30-year-old Thore used to be 5-foot 2-inches and 110-pounds. She says that she gained 200 pounds in college after being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome — but she that hasn’t stopped her from dancing.

“I just want to connect with people. It’s going to be a long road, but I’m happy to be on it,” Thore explained. As for why she titled her video Fat Girl Dancing, Thore says that she’s not down with the “PC” term.

“There’s ‘PC’ terms for everything these days, but fat people are fair game. Someone has to fight for us,” she said in another interview.

To many, dance is a universal language. It’s a great way for people to exercise, socialize, and have fun. There have been quite a few dance-related stories in the news this year. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, a 3-year-old girl started her very own dance party on a subway platform in New York earlier this month, and that video went viral too.

Whitney Thore’s reality show, My Big Fat Fabulous Life, premieres on TLC in January.
