What?: Pokemon, Nobunaga’s Ambition crossover game announced

The gaming industry has seen no shortage of interesting crossovers in its history, but none of them quite match the sheer ridiculousness of this latest one to be announced..

The Pokemon Company and Koei announced that during the Jump Festa expo that Pokemonis crossing over with Koei’s Nobunaga’s Ambition for a new Nintendo DS title, apparently called Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition, to release at some point next year. Nope, this isn’t a joke.

The two games couldn’t possibly be more different, aside from the fact that both originated in Japan and both are generally RPGs (albeit very different ones), so this pairing is perplexing to say the least.

Neither company shared any details, so we don’t know if this will be an RPG at all, much less a Pokemon-style RPG or a Nobunaga’s Ambition-style strategy RPG (or both?). The two companies did release a trailer over on the title’s official website, but the video doesn’t provide any clues as to just what in the world this project is supposed to be.

There’s your bizarre video game news of the week, ladies and gentlemen.
