Rapper Slim Dunkin Murdered in Atlanta Studio


, a rising young rapper who associated with Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame, was gunned down on Friday evening in a music studio, Atlanta police said. Dunkin was 24 years old.

According to Atlanta Police Major Keith Meadows, Dunkin, whose real name is Mario Hamilton, was preparing to record a music video when an argument erupted between the rapper and another unidentified man. The man produced a weapon and shot Dunkin in the chest. The rapper was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Washington Post reports that cops are currently interviewing the 20 or so individuals that were in the building during the shooting but have yet to identify a suspect or recover the handgun thought to have been used in the slaying.

“Right now we’re just trying to….identify who may have seen what, really just trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together,” Meadows told The AP. “It seems everybody witnessed something very different. We’re just trying to go back and make sense of everything.”

Following the news of Slim Dunkin’s death, Rapfix noted that several rappers took to Twitter to send their condolences.

“RIP TO MY N—A DUNK,” wrote Brick Squad Monopoly member Wooh Da Kid.

“Racks” producer Sonny Digital also expressed his grief.

“The first n—a to really f–k wid a n—a b4 i was sh–. #salute to my n—a dunk! RIP SLIM DUNKIN,” he tweeted.
