WWE News: WWE Superstar Chris Jericho Says He Could Retire From Pro-Wrestling Soon

Could WWE Superstar and Fozzy frontman Chris Jericho retire from WWE and pro-wrestling soon? While we may not be able to think of a wrestling world without Jericho, he sat down with YorkRegion.com, where he spoke about his career and potential departure from wrestling.

He told the YorkRegion, “I have got a lot of stuff going on to the point that wrestling is less a part of my life.”

He went on to clarify things though, saying, “But I enjoy it and that’s why I keep going back to do it. As long as I can compete at a high level I will keep going back as a special attraction. That’s a good way to be but there’s no telling how much longer I can be there. Sooner or later something is going to happen.”

Chris Jericho obviously isn’t saying he is leaving WWE tomorrow. However, he has been with the WWE off and on for over 15 years now. Before that, he spent a decade in various places, including WCW and ECW. He mentioned many times that his goal was always to make it to the WWE, so when he was able to come into the company in 1999, he was ecstatic. However, he had a lot of ups and downs when coming in.

It took a while for Jericho to be liked by the roster because he was coming out of WCW, a place WWE performers battled against for years. In 2001, WCW and ECW went out of business. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon bought up both sets of competition, and WWE became the only place in town worthy of working at the time. This meant that Jericho only had more competition. However, WWE believed so much in him that in late 2001, he became the first ever WWE Undisputed Champion. He later wrestled in the main event of WrestleMania 18 against Triple H while coming in as champion.

Since then, Jericho has been a star with WWE, and is considered a legend in the squared circle. Jericho no longer being part of WWE seems weird, but everyone has to hang it up eventually. Jericho is back now, and he is supposed to be with WWE off and on for a while longer. However, if he left in late 2015 for good, it would not be surprising. He’s a sure fire WWE Hall of Famer without any doubt. If WrestleMania goes to Canada once again — or close to it — we could expect his last match to be there as well as his Hall of Fame induction.
