Heartbreaking Photos Of Chinese Man Cradling His Wife’s Body In The Middle Of A Cold Street Go Viral

A Chinese man refused to leave the body of his just-deceased wife in the middle on street. He cradled and comforted her lifeless frame for two hours, sitting on the road in bitter cold, while he waited for his son to arrive.

After a woman suddenly collapsed in the middle of the street around 5:30 p.m. on December 17, at No. 85 Shenzhou Road in Shenhe district [of Shenyang], Liaoning province, her husband rushed to her. Too late to say goodbye, he held onto her lifeless body for two hours right there on the road, before they were eventually taken away. The middle-aged woman collapsed on the road due to a massive heart-attack. She was on her way to the pharmacy for medicine in the city’s Hunnan district, reported NetEase.

When passersby rushed to her aid, they found her barely conscious, but breathing. Some people helped her, and one female even performed CPR, but she quietly passed away before she could give out her family’s contact details. When the police arrived a few minutes later, they recovered the contact information on a medical card in her pocket, and made the most heavy-hearted phone call to her 63-year-old husband.

Her husband, identified only as He, rushed over, and seeing his wife collapsed in the middle of the street, he took her in his arms as if cradling her.

The husband refused to let go of her despite the temperatures dipping rapidly. As temperatures dropped to -15°C, his hands began turning red. Some kindhearted souls offered him gloves and a large piece of cardboard to sit on, while gently urging the man to leave the cold street before he fell sick.

However, the old man refused to let go of her saying, “I’m not cold, I just want to hold her a little longer for the last time. I won’t be able to ever again! It’s all right. I will stay with her longer and the car (from my son) is on the way.”

His son arrived two hours later, and they left together. Needless to say, onlookers were quite moved by the love and compassion the husband showed for his wife. The photos these passersby took have gone viral on the web.

Though information about the couple is sketchy, many speculate the old couple must have been from the Fushun [in Liaoning province] who worked in Shenyang. Judging by their garb, the couple must have been poor. Nonetheless, the husband’s gestures showed that life is worth living in the presence of the ones you love.
