CM Punk Not Ruling Out WWE Return, Shows Scar From Staph Infection

Former WWE wrestler and new UFC signee CM Punk appeared on Sirius XM’s Opie with Jim Norton, and briefly expanded on why he left WWE, his new career with the UFC, and whether or not he’ll go back to WWE at some point in the future.

CM Punk seemed a bit uncomfortable when he was being asked to give more detail on leaving WWE, and he even acknowledged that, saying that WWE is like an ex girlfriend that he doesn’t want to keep bringing up. Punk says that he has no hard feelings towards WWE, and he doesn’t blame people in the company for thinking he’s a jerk, because he says that back then, he wasn’t always the easiest person to deal with.

Early in the interview, CM Punk was asked to show his scar from his staph infection that he went into detail about on Colt Cabana’s podcast. In the video below from the interview, CM Punk shows the scar, and while it’s difficult to see if you look closely, you can see a small purple scar.

CM Punk also expanded on his indifference about wrestling The Undertaker at WrestleMania 29. Punk said by that point, he “didn’t give a f**k,” and that was the beginning of when he knew he needed to get out of WWE.

“Yeah I was [over it by then]. I didn’t care, and that was a big part of the problem, I was wrestling The Undertaker in front of 80,000 people, and I didn’t give a f**k. I was just like ‘ah, whatever.’ I had zero passion, I was just like ‘yeah, whatever.’ And [The Undertaker] might get offended at that, but it’s nothing against him, it’s just where I was at. But I would hope he gets it.”

Towards the end of his appearance on the Opie with Jim Norton show, CM Punk addressed the people that think that no matter how well he does in the UFC, he’ll eventually go back to WWE.

“Here’s my take on that, I don’t want to be that old, bitter guy, I don’t have a whole lot of nice things to say about WWE, and they don’t have whole lot of nice things to say about me. But I’m willing to be like ‘Alright, great. We had some laughs, I’ll see you around. You leave me alone, I’ll leave you alone. I don’t know if you can tell that I’m kind of uncomfortable talking about it right now, but I know I can’t escape that, that’s my past. I’m not trying to say wrestling sucks, I’m not trying to pretend I was never there. I would like to try to move on. It happened. They weren’t perfect, I wasn’t perfect. So, let’s just move on.”

“You asked if I’m going back to WWE, and my answer now is I can’t be sure. I don’t want to be the guy who says ‘never say never,’ I don’t plan [to go back], but I can’t tell the future. Something could happen, but I personally don’t see it.”

Also in the interview, CM Punk reveals that he’s taking it easy until the new year, then he’ll decide where he wants to train and what weight class he wants to fight at in his UFC debut. Punk also laughed at the challenge made to him by Jason David Frank, as Frank wants to be CM Punk’s first UFC opponent. CM Punk noted that Frank’s challenge was a bit ridiculous, and that it was a little too “pro wrestling.”

CM Punk had a lot of interesting things to say about his future and when he plans to make his UFC debut. So, if you haven’t already listened to the interview, you can listen to it here.
