Kenyan Bus Attack: Al-Shabaab Terrorists Shoot And Behead 36 Non-Muslims At Mandera Quarry

When it comes to global terrorism, most people — as well as the media — are concentrating primarily on the Middle East, especially with the increased activity of the Islamic State and its affiliations (ISIS and ISIL). However, other countries are experiencing a rise in terrorist activity as well. One such example is the African country of Kenya. Just recently, they’ve suffered a major attack, when al-Shabaab terrorists shot and beheaded 36 Mandera Quarry laborers who were riding a bus. The reason: they were non-Muslims.

It should be reported that the attack is not an isolated incident. According to previous articles by the Inquisitr, the troubles between both the country and the terrorist group began back in 2013, when Kenya declared war against al-Shabaab. Since then, there have been many conflicts between both, mostly in favor of Kenya. Apparently, al-Shabaab’s boss was killed in a U.S. strike. The lack of any leadership may have contributed to the failure of al-Shabaab’s attack on Uganda.

According to the Independent and followed-up by The Truth 24, London Report, and others, al-Shabaab terrorist gunmen shot and beheaded 36 laborers at a quarry in northeast Kenya. This attack actually occurred within two weeks of the last incident, which was very similar in fashion. Ten days ago, another bus was stopped by al-Shabaab terrorist gunmen. They pulled off all the non-Muslims and proceeded to execute them. Most of the 28 who died during that attack were teachers returning to Nairobi for the Christmas holidays.

Because of the attacks, the Kenyan people are losing faith in their president, Uhuru Kenyatta, who is trying his best to restore confidence in his leadership. One such move includes terminating his Interior Minister and replacing him with opposition figure and retired army General Joseph Ole Nkaissery. Uhuru also accepted the resignation of his national police chief, David Kimaiyo. It is hoped that such changes will bring about the necessary security for remote border areas, where decades lacking in public security investment left the area’s police authorities spread thin.

Ali Mohamud Rageh, a spokesman for al-Shabaab, made it clear that the massacres were revenge for Kenya’s military efforts to take out al-Shabaab strongholds, and for Kenya’s treatment of Muslims in a series of mosque raids in the port city of Mombasa.

“We are uncompromising in our beliefs, relentless in our pursuit, ruthless against the disbelievers and we will do whatever necessary to defend our Muslim brethren suffering from Kenya’s aggression.”

Despite al-Shabaab’s statement, Uhuru Kenyatta remains defiant, as he vows to “intensify the war on terrorism,” and will keep Kenyan forces in Somalia as part of the African Union force supporting the government there.

“This is a war and a war that we must win, we must win it together. The ultimate aim of this atrocious campaign is to create an extremist caliphate.”

What do you think should be done with al-Shabaab for their crimes against humanity? From what you know of Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta, do you think he could be doing more for the war effort, or is he doing all he can with what resources he has at his disposal?
