Viciously Abused 6-Month Old Mass. Pit Bull Puppy Survives And Fights, But Lifelong Problems Exist

Animal abuse shows no sign of letting up any time soon, and for the pit bull breed, it is no less a problem. Unfortunately, given the popularity of pit bull fighting and their high threshold for pain, the breed faces at least a slightly higher likelihood of abuse. The Inquisitr recently reported about a pit bull abuse case in Ohio, with a skin and bone pit named Jovie. The seven-pound pit bull was dropped off at a local pit bull shelter, and is still fighting for her life.

MASSLive reports that another pit bull puppy is also in a severe situation, but he is putting up a good fight. A 6-month-old pit bull named Max was brought to a Massachusetts Animal control and Adoption center, brutally abused. Initially, the two adults and their possible child brought Max the pit bull in to the local humane society. Upon receiving the pit bull puppy, the humane society realized that the two adults’ story did not hold water.

They initially brought the pit bull in claiming he was a stray. The two adults and one juvenile, who are now suspects in the pit bull abuse case, were determined to be the owners. The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has charged the three with “chronic” abuse of the pit bull. They are to be arraigned on felony charges by the end of the month.

According to reports, Max the pit bull suffered significant brain trauma and several broken bones. Pam Peebles, director of the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, states that Max is making great strides, but the full extent of the damage might never be known. However, the 6-month old pit bull has been lovable, playful, social, adores people, and licks complete strangers, TJO Animal Control says.

Animal Control Officer Hannah Chapman says he is doing very well, but he most likely will have lifelong mobility and arthritis issues. Director Pam Peebles hopes to find Max a better home.

“We hope that because he’s a puppy and people know his story and it kind of tugs at your heartstrings, a really great adopter will come forward.”

She hopes he will find a loving home that will accept his permanent physical ails. Despite all the problems that Max the pit bull faces in the future, he remains very outgoing, according to the folks at TJO. A video of Max can be found online.
