WWE News: Dolph Ziggler: ‘I Will Be The Man In WWE In 2015’

Current WWE Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler sat down with WWE play-by-play announcer Michael Cole for an interview with WWE.com, and Ziggler touched on a number of interesting topics, including promising that he will be “the man” in WWE in 2015.

Ziggler won back the Intercontinental championship at this past Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view, when he defeated Luke Harper in a show-stealing ladder match in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. After Ziggler’s win, the commentators talked about how much the IC title means, and that the title has always been the stepping stone to becoming “the man.”

From the looks of it, WWE may finally be making an effort to make the Intercontinental championship mean what it once meant. It’s probably been a good 15 years since the IC title has meant anything in WWE, but now they may try to actually push whoever the IC title holder is to the top.

After his win on Sunday night, Dolph Ziggler is now a four-time Intercontinental champion. In the past, Vince McMahon has never seen Dolph Ziggler as a “top guy.” One of the reasons is because Ziggler is “too small,” however, WWE fans know that’s an invalid argument because guys like Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, and Shawn Michaels all became main-eventers despite being “too small” in Vince McMahon’s opinion.

Ziggler has been very vocal about his frustration over the past couple of years, as he’s one of many superstars that WWE likes to use as a utility guy that loses all the time, despite Ziggler being one of the most talented wrestlers on WWE’s roster.

It was shocking to see WWE let Dolph Ziggler be the sole survivor of Team Cena back at Survivor Series. That could have been the turning point in Ziggler’s WWE career, and WWE may finally be looking to do something with Ziggler, who has been in WWE for about a decade now.

At the end of the interview with Michael Cole, Ziggler talked about what’s next for him, and how he plans on being “the man” in WWE next year. While that may be a bit far-fetched, Ziggler certainly has the talent and motivation to do so.

“Dolph Ziggler is me, and what I am is everything I stand for, it’s the hardest working man in sports-entertainment, someone who has fought for ten years to be ‘the man’ because I want to be. Not because I have to, not because I think it looks cool or it could be fun. I have a chip on my shoulder that’s so big that you won’t believe it. I don’t sleep much at night, because I think about tiny mistakes that I’ve made. This is on the right track, I’m going to be the man around here.”

Finally, after all of this time, WWE is on the right track with Dolph Ziggler, and now he may finally be getting his shot at the top of WWE.
