Mom Helps Police Arrest Fraudsters Selling Fake One Direction Tickets

It will not have escaped any One Direction fan’s notice that the fab five will be going out on tour across the world early in the New Year. As always when One Direction tour, there is a high demand for tickets. Sadly, and just as predictably, when One Direction tour, the fraudsters and scalpers are out in force, trying to part fans from their cash.

The Belfast Telegraph is reporting how one mom helped Irish police turn the tables on a would be fraudster selling fake tickets for One Direction shows. Mary Murphy, from Wexford, traveled with her husband to One Direction star Niall Horan’s hometown of Mullingar to collect the tickets she saw for sale on Irish classifieds website DoneDeal.ie

Mary and her husband, Nigel, handed over €350 for the tickets, but immediately smelled a rat.

Mary said, “I was delighted when I spotted the four tickets advertised at face value on Sunday morning, we called the seller straightaway. I don’t know why but something just hit me, I decided to ring the guy from a different number.”

She continued, “I called him and asked if the One Direction tickets that were advertised online were still available and my heart sank when he said ‘yes.’ He gave me the same story about someone messing him around.”

Mary arranged to meet him in Mullingar, and immediately called the Irish police.

A plain cloths officer from Mullingar Police Station met the two men and was sold four tickets identical to those sold to the couple. The men were duly arrested. The incident should serve as a timely reminder for One Direction fans desperately seeking tickets for the shows to buy only from reputable and authorized ticket sellers.

Meanwhile, One Direction fans who support soccer club Derby County will have been delighted to see One Direction Star Niall Horan at last nights Capital Cup last eight match up. The Daily Mail is reporting that Derby fan Niall attended to cheer on his hero’s. Sadly the backing of the One Direction star didn’t inspire the team, who lost 1-3 to Premier league leaders Chelsea.

Despite being brought up in Ireland, Horan is a longtime Derby County fan, and has attended matches in the past. He was in a box here after performing on Sunday’s X Factor final in London, alongside Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. The pairs apparent friendship might explain why Wood played alongside the band at the X Factor final.

As an interesting aside, the Irish Independent is reporting that a new app has been launched that will allow you to sing along with One Direction on the Band Aid 30 song. The app will allow you to place yourself in the video and upload the video to Youtube, Facebook, or Twitter. More information can be found on the WholeWorldBand website.
