WWE News: Randy Orton Returning Soon, But He Won’t Be Feuding With Seth Rollins

Most WWE fans expected Randy Orton to make his WWE return at this past Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view during the Seth Rollins vs. John Cena tables match. Instead, Roman Reigns made his return and cost Rollins the match with Cena.

Now, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported that when Randy Orton returns, he’ll be feuding with Kane, not Seth Rollins. There were market-specific interviews that aired during the Canadian broadcast of this past Monday’s RAW, with Kane vowing to get back at Orton for the choices that Orton has made, which will lead to house show matches between the two. So, as of right now, Randy Orton’s return program will be with Kane.

Randy Orton has been expected to return at the past two pay-per-views, but WWE chose to have Sting return in November at Survivor Series, and as previously mentioned, they chose to have Roman Reigns return at this past Sunday’s TLC. Now, it appears that WWE is advertising that Randy Orton will be at RAW on December 29 in Washington DC.

Just because Randy Orton is returning to feud with Kane, doesn’t mean that he won’t have match with Seth Rollins in the future. As a matter of fact, Orton vs. Rollins will likely take place at WrestleMania 31, and Kane vs. Orton is the feud that will kill time until it’s WrestleMania time.

As of right now, WWE has no plans to turn Randy Orton heel any time soon. They’re looking for him to have a long run as a babyface, as they want to make guys like Seth Rollins and Rusev their top heels. Also, when Triple H and Stephanie McMahon return, they’ll be top heels as well, so, WWE feels that it would be better for Orton to be the company’s second or third babyface behind John Cena and Roman Reigns, rather than being the fifth heel behind Rusev, Rollins, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H and possibly Brock Lesnar if he sticks around after WrestleMania, which is unlikely.

There’s a chance that Randy Orton could face Kane at the Royal Rumble in January, then again at the February pay-per-view in either a one-on-one match, or a tag-team match, where he would team up with Roman Reigns to take on Kane and Seth Rollins.

So, as of right now, the immediate plans for Randy Orton are to have him feud with Kane with the destination being a match with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 31.
