Imagine Dragons Announce Release Date For New Album, Hear The First Single

Not long ago, Imagine Dragons shared some scraps of info about a new album they were planning to release as a follow-up to their widely successful debut album Night Visions featuring their hit “Radioactive.” Now Imagine Dragons is ready to announce the release date for their sophomore album, and they’ve got some cover art and a first single to share along with it.

According to Radio, the new Imagine Dragons album is titled Smoke + Mirrors. Members of Imagine Dragons made the announcement via the official Imagine Dragons Twitter page, claiming the album will hit stores on February 17, 2015, via KIDinaKORNER and Interscope records.

It has been a little over two years since Imagine Dragons released Night Visions, so fans are likely very eager to sink their teeth into some new Imagine Dragons music. To hold the fans over, Imagine Dragons hinted that there was more to the release date than meets the eye. Not long after the announcement, fans discovered that visiting the website 021715.com would allow them to hear a brand new Imagine Dragons song–the first single off Smoke + Mirrors titled “Gold.”

But that’s not all. Fans who pre-order Smoke + Mirrors now will get free downloads of both “Gold” and the lead single off the album “I Bet My Life,” which was previously released.

Smoke + Mirrors was recorded in the home studio of the Imagine Dragons members and has the following tracklist.

1. “Shots”
2. “Gold”
3. “Smoke And Mirrors”
4. “I’m So Sorry”
5. “I Bet My Life”
6. “Polaroid”
7. “Friction”
8. “It Comes Back To You”
9. “Dream”
10. “Trouble”
11. “Summer”
12. “Hopeless Opus”
13. “The Fall”

As reported by the Music Times, Imagine Dragon’s newest song “Gold” is slightly more experimental for the standards of the band. While Imagine Dragons is known for their epic and pounding rock songs, “Gold” brings some creepier melodies to the mix. Give the new track a listen in the YouTube video below:

A special deluxe version of Smoke + Mirrors will also be made available through Target stores, which features four additional tracks. The bonus track titles have yet to be announced, but Imagine Dragons fans will certainly find the extra content hard to pass up.
