Steven Gerrard Ready To Quit Liverpool With New York On The Horizon After Dressing Room Bust-Up

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has always been seen as one of the best captains within the sport and much of that praise is focused on his man-management skills within the dressing room. However, reports have emerged from sources in England that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard had a major falling out with new signing Dejan Lovren over his performances throughout the season.

The Daily Star’s, Jack Wilson reports that Gerrard and Lovren came head to head after the horrendous defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

“The Liverpool captain was playing in front of the back four, but Lovren felt he was not giving enough cover. But boss Brendan Rodgers backed Gerrard and proceeded to drop Lovren for the next four games.”

Previously, Inquisitr reported that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers suggested that squad harmony had been fractured due to tension between players.

“In every dressing room there have always been issues, but it is not something I discuss outside of the dressing room. The players are honest but we are not getting results. I can’t fault the commitment of the players because they gave everything.”

Throughout the year, Liverpool’s defense has been an issue of contention however, the acquisition of Lovren should have been the solution needed.

The reports claims that the root of Dejan Lovren’s struggles at Liverpool is down to a language barrier with the rest of his defensive team-mates, as he’s finding it hard to communicate with Spanish full-backs Alberto Moreno and Javier Manquillo.

Recently, Steven Gerrard has been caught in the middle of intense contract negotiation between his boyhood club. Amidst the negotiation, Gerrard has been offered a contract by the MLS franchise New York Red Bulls.

According to NBCSports, “Gerrard will be offered a ‘lucrative’ move to the New York Red Bulls as his old boss at Liverpool and New York’s current Head of Global Football Gerard Houllier is eager to link up once again.”

Steven Gerrard has been Liverpool’s talisman for the past decade and is often classified as one of the best captain in the world of football. However, with the reported bust-up and disharmony within the Liverpool dressing along with the contract negotiation that seem to have no end in sight; it may be possible that this may just be his last season at the Merseyside club.
