Mom Chained Disabled Daughter To Toilet: Aneta Pokorskia Left To Freeze, Starve, And Rot For A Year

A mom chained her disabled daughter to a toilet in a barn on their property in Poland, and left her there for a year. According to the Irish Mirror, Aneta Pokorskia, 25, had been left in terrible living conditions, and suffered from frostbite, fleas, and rotting flesh (amongst other things) when she was found.

Aneta’s mother, Maria, told family members that social workers were caring for Aneta, who is physically disabled. The idea came to her after a family argument about who would care for Aneta. Maria lied to her family about her daughter’s whereabouts, and decided to keep her holed up in a barn with nothing but a small bed and a homemade toilet. Once it became impossible for Aneta to walk, her mom decided to chain her to the toilet.

Relatives became concerned about Aneta when Maria didn’t offer any updates on her daughter’s whereabouts.

“A shocked family member eventually found Aneta Pokorskia, 25, who is physically disabled, and discovered that one of her buttocks and part of her thigh had rotted away. She was suffering from malnutrition and dehydration and had fleas and frostbite,” reports the Irish Mirror.

Police arrested the mom who chained her daughter to the toilet. A police spokesperson shared some additional information about the barn where Aneta was kept, and about the woman’s condition upon discovery.

“The daughter was chained to a home-made toilet. It was a chair with a hole cut into it underneath which was a bucket. The mother used a different corner of the barn as a toilet. When officers found the daughter she looked like she had been in a death camp. She was dressed in rags, starving, freezing, half her buttock was missing and half of her thigh too. The barn had no heating and no water.”

According to My Fox 8, Aneta was taken to a hospital. Doctors say that she will need “extensive rehabilitation,” but it is believed that she will be okay.

Sadly, the mistreatment of disabled people isn’t as rare as you might think. Over the summer, a woman in New Jersey was sentenced to three years in prison after abandoning her wheelchair-bound daughter. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Janet Wilson left her 32-year-old daughter Rebecca Wilson in a mobile home, knowing that she was unable to care for herself. Rebecca Wilson eventually died. Police found her body, and the body of a deceased dog, inside the mobile home in May of 2013.

The mom who chained her daughter to the toilet is not currently being prosecuted because police said that she is “mentally ill.”
