‘Blade Runner 2’ Script Best Thing Ever, According To Harrison Ford

In a recent interview with MTV News, Blade Runner director Ridley Scott revealed more details about the script for a potential sequel. Scott also let fans know that Blade Runner 2 has a big supporter: Harrison Ford. According to Ridley, the sequel’s script is the best thing that Harrison has ever read.

Ridley spoke with MTV News for the recent premiere of Exodus: Gods and Kings. Seated between actors Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton, the director discussed being too busy to read about his films in the press. He certainly will be busy with sequels for both Prometheus and Blade Runner in the works.

When asked if Ford would be too old to act in the sequel, Ridley said that the pair work well together, and Harrison is fully supportive of the project.

“I sent him this [script] and he said, ‘Wow, this is the best thing I’ve ever read,’ so it’s very relevant to what happened [in] the first one.”

Scott also reassured fans that Blade Runner 2 would not just be an action flick.

“I’m not just doing a sequel with lots of action and see how far we can go with the special effects because you can’t really. ‘Blade Runner’ kind of landed on a somehow very credible future. And it’s very difficult to change that because it’s been so influential with everything else.”

According to Variety, the director of Blade Runner 2 is still in debate. Ridley may end up being too busy to film Blade Runner 2, but it looks like Harrison Ford will play Rick Deckard in some capacity. The project has been in the works since early 2011 with Alcon Entertainment.

The Inquisitr recently covered that production will begin on Blade Runner 2 in early 2015 without its original director. Ridley and Hampton Fancher, a co-writer on the original Blade Runner, want the sequel to look and feel much like the first as well as stay true to the source story by Phillip K. Dick.

For those readers not in the know, Blade Runner is a noir-like science fiction film from 1982 starring Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer. Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) is hired to hunt down a group of genetically engineered replicants, which look human, but are manufactured by corporations for work in off-world colonies.
