Camille Cosby Stands By Her Man, But Does She Believe Him?
Camille Cosby has been married to Bill Cosby for 50 years, and she’s standing by her man during this controversy surrounding numerous claims of rape against him. The Guardian writes that the comedian spoke fondly of his wife when asked how she’s stuck with him over the course of all this time, and in the face of these allegations. He praised her devotion with a poetic phrase.
“Love and the strength of womanhood. Let me say it again, love and the strength of womanhood. And, you could reverse it, the strength of womanhood and love.”
Cosby doesn’t shy away from expressing his love for his wife, but the public — along with the media — wants to know exactly what his wife actually thinks about all of these accusations. She has remained gracefully silent in the face of this controversy, keeping a smile on her face even as her husband dodged questions about the rape allegations during a recent NPR interview.
Camille Cosby isn’t accessible by the media, so there is simply no telling what she thinks of this humiliating scandal. Nonetheless, there is curiosity surrounding how she may be receiving all of these accusations against her longtime husband. That’s especially since Beverly Johnson has come forward with claims that Bill drugged her in the home he shared with his wife back in the 1980s. Where was Camille when this alleged assault took place? Does she remember whether this in-home audition took place between Bill and Beverly?
Even the Washington Post notes that Bill Cosby’s wife has been eerily silent as of late, declaring that she deserves better than being an off-stage prop used by the comedian to boast of being married for a half century. Camille has always been considered to be a powerful woman who inspired the character Clair Huxtable, but as her husband has gone from America’s dad to accused serial rapist and pariah, she has gone silent.
On social media, there are mixed reactions to Camille standing by her man, and the hashtag #Cosby on Twitter is highly active with discussion about it. Many people are asking what the comedian’s wife knows about the alleged rapes, if anything at all.
