Whoopi Goldberg Farts During ‘The View’ Broadcast [Video]

Some critics say that The View stinks, but Whoopi Goldberg took it to a whole new level.

The co-host of the long-running ABC talk show apparently farted in the midst of a discussion about the flu vaccine. It was so loud that it could be a prank, however. Watch and listen to the video below and judge for yourself.

During yesterday morning’s episode, guest panelist Ashanti began explaining how she is declining to get a flu shot when Goldberg cut one. The panel along with the audience roared with laughter.

“Excuse me,” said Goldberg as she got up and walked around the set after apparently passing wind. “I feel so much better.” Both she and Rosie O’Donnell agreed that it had something to do with breakfast burritos. “It was the flu shot,” Ashanti quipped.

As far as whether the whole thing was legit or a “whoopee cushion,” Gossip Cop has a theory: “… the supposed gas noise erupts at the same exact moment the show’s new Hot Topics graphic is branded on the screen with a whooshing sound. It seems like Goldberg may have just been doing what comediennes do best — taking an unexpected moment (the random sound) and turning it into a comedy bit (by pretending it was a fart). Of course, it’s also possible the star really did toot, and it was indeed picked up by her mic or its true noise was masked by the weird production gimmick.”

This incident was not the first time that Goldberg passed gas on the show. Three years ago she similarly let loose during a conversation with Homeland star Claire Daines. “I think I just blew out a little frog outta there!” Goldberg admitted at that time.

Hot air aside, The View in its current incarnation has been tumbling in the ratings. New cast members Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez, along with the recycled Rosie O’Donnell, have failed to give the show the boost that producers and the network apparently expected.

In addition to bad smells, reports of bad blood on the set of The View have also emerged. As the Inquisitr has previously chronicled, Rose O’Donnell has allegedly clashed with Whoopi Goldberg and other members of the cast and crew. There has been speculation that O’Donnell might be canned after this season, and Sherri Shepard and Joy Behar brought back.
