Matt Bellamy: Split ‘For The Best’ Says Kate Hudson’s Ex-Fiance

Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy’s split was for the best, the Muse frontman says. News broke this week that Matt and Kate had broken off their engagement, ending ongoing speculation that their relationship was on the rocks. Despite the split, Bellamy says that they are on good terms.

Matt Bellamy’s split comment came via Twitter where he said he loves his fans, and that he and Kate are both very happy. He added that the split is for the best and he thanked everybody for their kind words. He wrapped the post by teasing, “Now about that new album…”

As People notes, Hudson and Bellamy were last spotted together publicly on November 21. They attended a charity event, Love In for Kids, put on by Kate’s mom, Goldie Hawn. The former couple have one son together, Bingham Hawn Bellamy, who was born in July 2011.

There have been rumors of strife within Kate and Matt’s engagement off-and-on for some time now. Hudson’s rep confirmed the split to People on Monday, noting that the couple had been separated for some time already. However, they say they remain close friends and committed co-parents of Bingham.

Kate got pregnant soon after the couple first started dating and they got engaged in April 2011 shortly before Bingham’s birth. However, they never moved on to set a wedding day. Kate had noted that her parents, Goldie and long-time partner Kurt Russell, whom Kate refers to has her father, never married and she didn’t necessarily feel that it was necessary. Kate was previously married to The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson from 2000 to 2007. They also have a son together named Ryder.

There have been rumors swirling that Kate has been cozying up to someone else already, but so far that seems to be simply speculation. Hudson has dated a number of familiar faces in the past, having also had relationships with Owen Wilson, Lance Armstrong, Dax Shepard and Alex Rodriguez.

E! Online shares that Bellamy was all smiles Tuesday night when he was spotted in London with bandmate Dominic Howard. Muse fans are anxious for more details regarding that album tease of Matt’s, as so far a specific release date has not been revealed. It had previously been said that they planned to release an album in 2015 and fans are anxious for details.

In the grand scheme of celebrity break-ups, this one seems to be going fairly smoothly. Neither star is dishing on the other one and given Matt Bellamy’s split tweet about it being for the best, it seems unlikely they will share anything negative publicly.
