Capcom: “Mega Man is a key brand”

Fans of the classic Mega Man were none too pleased with Capcom after the company axed Mega Man Legends 3 earlier this year, seemingly, at least in the eyes of fans, ditching the Mega Man franchise.

Christian Svensson, Capcom senior vice president of strategic planning and business development, insists that the company isn’t ditching the Mega Man franchise, saying that Mega Man is still considered as a “key brand”.

Svensson said in an interview with Game Informer:

“Change has been a constant during my six years at Capcom (vastly for the positive) but I want to be crystal clear on this point. Mega Man is a key brand for Capcom and will remain so. I don’t have any products we’ve announced publicly that I can point to and say ‘see, I told you’ but there are ‘top men’ within Capcom thinking about the future of the brand and where it’s going. We will have official announcements in due course.

So there you have it, Mega Man fans. Capcom is working on something, it just won’t be Mega Man Legends 3.
