Beyonce Sued For $100 Million by Video Game Developer Gate Five

It seems singer and soon-to-be first-time mom Beyonce Knowles has more to worry about than decorating nurseries and fighting pregnancy cravings.

According to a report by the Ny Daily News the “Crazy in Love” crooner is facing a $100 million lawsuit after reportedly abandoning a video game project back that was originally agreed upon in June of 2010.

Video game developer Gate Five says Beyonce backed out of their agreement to produce a dance-related game called Starpower: Beyonce causing them to lose a $7 million investment in the project as a result.

While Knowles’ lawyers applied to the have the case, which was first launched in April of this year, tossed out on Tuesday, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Charles Ramos rejected the request and has allowed the gamers to move on with the suit.

In addition to the $7 million investment, Gate Five claims that Beyonce’s double-cross essentially destroyed their business, causing them to miss out on potential profits of $100 million and also forced the firing of 70 employees.

The company is seeking damages for the cost of the project and are hoping to get an injunction which would mean the singer is unable to work on any future computer games.

Lawyers for Beyonce reportedly say the star had a right to abandon the project because Gate Five didn’t secure financing.
