Kate Hudson Split: Actress Ends Engagement To Matt Bellamy, Moves On With Derek Hough

Kate Hudson has split from her beau, Matt Bellamy, and has already moved on to someone new. According to Us Weekly, the actress broke off her engagement to Bellamy, with whom she has a son (she has another son with rocker Chris Robinson), and has been hooking up with Derek Hough from Dancing With The Stars. Apparently, the two have been friends for quite some time, but their friendship has flourished into something more.

“Hudson and Hough were together this past weekend at the Nice Guy Restaurant in L.A. One eyewitness tells Us that the stars ate dinner, drank, and stayed past closing.”

Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy’s split seemed inevitable, since the two have been engaged since 2011 and really did not have any plans to wed. In January, Kate told Kelly and Michael that she was happy to just be in a relationship without any real plan of moving forward.

“No, I’m planning nothing right now. I’m so busy, we’ve been so busy and it’s been great. I come from an unconventional family — they’re not married, my parents aren’t married. So there’s a part of me that goes, if I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it right. And I’m going to take the time to really plan it right… And it’s a lot. Planning a wedding is a lot! I mean, I did a movie about planning a wedding and that was a lot, let alone actually planning a wedding! So, no. Not anytime soon, no,” Kate said when asked if she was going to tie the knot anytime soon.

Kate Hudson’s rep gave a statement to People Magazine explaining that the How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days actress and the Muse frontman split a while ago, but they are still friends.

“Kate and Matt have been separated for some time now. Despite this, they remain very close friends and committed co-parents,” said the rep.

As far as those Derek Hough dating rumors go, it wouldn’t be surprising if the two were hooking up. Although Derek briefly dated Nina Dobrev this year, and as previously reported by the Inquisitr, he was also linked to his Dancing With The Stars partner Bethany Mota, Hough is single… and could be ready to jump into something with Hudson.
